Precision Filters, Inc. today announced the availability of Option HC14 for its 28144 Quad-Channel Signal Conditioner. Now users can perform a wide variety of sensor measurements—including vibration, strain, pressure, and temperature—with a single module.
Option HC14 supports IEPE equipped sensors and remote charge converters (RCC’s) for charge measurements with its built-in current source. It provides Balanced Constant Voltage and Current (BCC™) excitation for bridge, strain, RTD, and many other sensor measurements. It further accommodates an analog bandwidth greater than 1 MHz and programmable filter selections between 1 Hz and 200 kHz.
Option HC14 facilitates measurements of strain in a ¼, ½, or full bridge configuration or 2-wire/4-wire constant current measurements. Precise low drift (0.2 PPM) completion resistors are included for 120, 350 or 1000 Ω bridges. 255-step bipolar shunt calibration provides programmable shunt cal resistance values ranging from 7.5 kΩ to 1.92 MΩ. Shunt calibration can be applied internally to the 28114 card or remotely at the actual bridge using dedicated shunt calibration connections. Single shunt of R1 or R2 bridge arms is supported.
The HC14 also supplies an 8 mA current source for measurements with IEPE transducers. An AC coupling capacitor removes the sensor bias and connects to the amplifier input stage. Sensor bias and fault conditions are monitored in real time to alert the user to a fault condition.
With the optional 5th wire buffering capability, users can measure the temperature of Kulite™ sensors to enhance accuracy. Additionally, Precision’s REZCOMP® resonance compensation technology extends sensor bandwidth by 200% or more.
