Rotating Machinery

Obtain valid data in harsh testing conditions with Precision Filters’ state-of-the-art signal conditioners

Robust testing of gas turbine engines and other rotating machinery requires real-time measurements in harsh conditions. Hundreds of sensors and lead wires collect data on pressure, strain, vibration, and temperature while exposed to a high-temperature test environment with many potential noise sources.

A systems approach that combines world-class signal conditioning with fast, rigorous self-testing can remove noise and ensure critical data are valid. With advanced signal conditioning techniques and equipment, researchers can eliminate electrostatic noise and compensate for resistance and temperature variations in test materials, active gages, and lead wires, while simultaneously recording data from hundreds of sensors. A series of automated sensor and cable health checks verifies measurement system performance so you can be confident in the validity of your data.

Precision Filters Developed Balanced Constant Current

Precision Filters developed Balanced Constant Current™ (BCC™) technology to allow for wide dynamic range measurements of strain in harsh environments using only a two-wire connection to the gage. The circuit is insensitive to temperature-induced changes in lead resistance. Because the circuit is balanced, the differential input amplifier rejects noise pickup in the leads. And if a gage terminal shorts to the test article, the circuit continues to measure strain. These techniques have potential applications for many other types of rotating machines, such as steam turbines, jet aircraft engines, or any other materials tested in extreme environments.

Precision Filters’ Systems for Rotating Machinery Testing
